Who
was Saint Pio?
Born the son of a
shepherd, he became a Capuchian priest, ordained in August, 1910.
While praying before a cross, he received the stigmata. Word about him
spread, especially after American soldiers brought home stories of Padre Pio
following WWII. He heard confessions by the hour, reportedly able to
read the consciences of those who held back. He was reported have the
ability to bilocate, levitate, and heal by touch. In the 1920‘s he started a
series of prayer groups that continue today with over 400,000 members
worldwide.
His canonization miracle
involved the cure of Matteo Pio Colella, age 7, who was admitted to the
intensive care unit of the hospital with meningitis. By morning, there was no
hope for his recovery because nine of his internal organs had shut down.
That night, during a prayer vigil that include his mother and Capuchin friars of
Padre Pio’s monastery, the child improved suddenly. When he awoke from the coma,
the boy said that he had seen an elderly man with a white beard and a long,
brown habit, who said to him: “Don’t worry, you will soon be cured.”

Prayer to St Pio
St Padre Pio help me
to heed your words when you told us "Pray, pray to the Lord with me, because
the whole world needs prayer. And every day, when your heart especially
feels the loneliness of life, pray. Pray to the Lord, because even God
needs our prayers." Let my days begin and end with pray. Let my
life be filled with prayer. Dear Saint, intercede for me with the Lord.
Amen
Quotes
The life and mission of
Padre Pio testify that difficulties and sorrows, if accepted with love,
transform themselves into a privileged journey of holiness, which opens the
person toward a greater good, known only to the Lord.” ~Bl John Paul II
on the day of the canonization of Padre Pio
Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry
is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer...Prayer is the best
weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart. You must speak to Jesus with not
only your lips but with your heart. In fact on certain occasions you should
speak to Him only with your heart.
~ St. Padre Pio
