St. Gertrude

Feast Day November 16

Since she had such a zeal for souls, the Marian Mantle Group has always encouraged turning to St Gertrude on behalf of our prodigal loved ones.  When this saint lived her life here on Earth with the sole purpose of bringing salvation to others, surely she will carry our prayers forward to the King of Kings in Heaven.

Who Was St.

St. Gertrude?

St. Gertrude was a Benedictine nun who became well known in her lifetime for her mystical encounters with the Lord.  God and the salvation of souls was the one object of her life.  Her writings and prayers she composed were popular and helped spread devotion to the Sacred Heart.

Prayer of Saint Gertrude

Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, In union with the Masses said today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, For sinners everywhere, For sinners in the Universal Church, Those in my own home And within my family. Amen.

Our Lord told Saint Gertrude that this prayer would release 1,000 souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was later extended to include living sinners as well.

Approval and Recommendation signed by M. Cardinal Pahiarca, Lisbon, Portugal March 4, 1936. The extension was not included in the approval
