Two Events Borne of Sorrow

Because of the suffering of Our Sorrowful Mother
during her Son's Passion and Death
as she Followed Him on His walk to Calvary
and Remained with Him through His death on the Cross,
Two Events on the Liturgical Calendar are Closely Tied

The Feast of the Exaltation
of the Holy Cross
 is celebrated on September 14

The Feast of
 Our Lady of Sorrows
is celebrated on September 15

John 3: 16-17
For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him
should not perish
but have eternal life.
For God sent the Son
into the world,
not to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved
through him.

 John 19: 25 - 27
So the soldiers did this.
But standing by the cross of Jesus
were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,
and Mary Mag'dalene.
When Jesus saw his mother,
and the disciple whom he loved
standing near, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"
Then he said to the disciple,
"Behold, your mother!"
And from that hour
the disciple took her to his own home.
