The Seventh Sorrow of Our Lady - Mary witnesses the burial of Jesus

Scripture Reading:  Luke 23: 50-56 DRV  50 And behold there was a man named Joseph, who was a counsellor, a good and just man, 51 (The same had not consented to their counsel and doings;) of Arimathea, a city of Judea; who also himself looked for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. 53 And taking him down, he wrapped him in fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewed in stone, wherein never yet any man had been laid. 54 And it was the day of the Parasceve, and the sabbath drew on. 55 And the women that were come with him from Galilee, following after, saw the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

Meditation:  Sorrowful Mother, as you watched Jesus being placed in the tomb and heard the stone rolled into place to close the entrance, your heart must have been heavy with the memory of all the events that had just taken place.  Still, you knew He was the Son of God.  Surely from within your soul, trust must have risen up to fill the deep wells that sorrow had carved in your heart.  Mother, help me to trust God, too.  May I lay down my selfish, untrusting, impatient nature as I pray for my beloved prodigal Catholic.  May my sinful life be buried in God's Mercy.  May I rise to remember and to believe your words, dear Mother. "He who is mighty has done great things for me."  In Jesus Name, I pray.  Amen.

Prayer:  Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.
