The Fifth Sorrow of Our Lady - Mary at the foot of the cross

Scripture Reading:  John 19: 25-30~  DRV    25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen.  26 When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. 27 After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own. 28 Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst. 29 Now there was a vessel set there full of vinegar. And they, putting a sponge full of vinegar and hyssop, put it to his mouth. 30 Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: It is consummated. And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost.
Meditation:
Mother of Sorrows, we stand here together at the foot of the cross upon which your Son Jesus was crucified.  Your eyes never leave His as you watch Him suffer and die for the sins of mankind.  I lower my head as I realize my sins have done this to Him.  Help me to never judge another person, especially my prodigal loved one.  Instead, let me spend my days in prayer for both our souls.  Help me to continue to love with all my heart.  May the time come quickly when I can say with joy, "The one for whom I have prayed has come home."  I make this prayer In Jesus' Name.  Amen.

Prayer:  Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.
