The Fourth Sorrow of Our Lady - Mary meets Jesus carrying the cross

Scripture Reading:  Luke 23: 27-29 DRV   27 And there followed him a great multitude of people, and of women, who bewailed and lamented him. 28 But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck.

Meditation:   Dear Mother, how painful the meeting with your Son must have been for you.  You, too, carried a cross.  It rested not on your shoulder, but heavy upon your heart.  No doubt, Jesus found comfort for a moment when He beheld your loving gaze.   Daily, I, too, carry a cross of concern for my beloved prodigal. May my prayers bring comfort to that hurting soul and help to open both heart and mind to see the fullness of faith waiting in the Eucharist.  May the time come quickly when I can say with joy, "The one for whom I have prayed has come home."  I make this prayer In Jesus' Name.  Amen.

Prayer:  Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.
